• Baby is born with a congenital defect: A congenital defect is a term used for a structural/functional abnormality that a child is born with. This can affect any organ or part of the child’s body, often giving rise to serious and potentially life-threatening complications. • Premature birth: A premature birth, also referred to as a preterm birth, means that a baby is born before the completion of 37 weeks of gestation. Around 13.4 babies are born preterm every year. • Chorioamnionitis: It is an inflammation in the placental membranes and chorion due to the infection of the fluids within the amniotic sac. Chorioamnionitis can happen during the course of pregnancy, at the time of labour or during the birth of your little one. 
• Respiratory distress syndrome: RDS is a condition seen in babies born preterm, before the completion of 28 weeks of gestation, and is linked to the underdevelopment of their lungs which are not capable of supporting normal breathing.
