Meet Shreya Bachim
2-year-old beats H1N1-induced broken heart syndrome, a condition predominantly seen in adults.
Shreya was one of the many people diagnosed with H1N1 in Mumbai. Surprisingly, in her case, the symptoms manifested in a very different way. The virus invaded her heart causing it to enlarge and resulting in broken heart syndrome, a condition that is quite common in adults but rare in kids.
The attack was so severe that it brought down the pumping capacity of her heart to 15%. Shreya was admitted to Surya Hospital in a very critical condition, however, despite all odds, our team was successful in treating her.
She was kept on ventilator support and antiviral medication was administered, which significantly helped to improve the little one's vitals.
Soon, she was discharged in good health, with minimal brain damage, as compared to what is usually seen in such cases.
